On 27th of February the Eurasian Club System (ECS) held a conference an International Youth Cooperation at the Institute of Global Public Policy Presidential Academy in Moscow. The main topics of the conference were the research on global challenges and the role youth plays in modern cooperation. The representatives at the conference came from both science and government, and descended from France, the Netherlands, India and Russia; including the young diplomat organization of the Russian ministry of foreign affairs, Youth association for a Greater Europe, the Eurasian Youth Assembly, Youth Diplomacy, Russia Direct, Global Shapers and United Netherlands. ECS establishes intellectual networks and educational clusters from London to Singapore to offer young people an opportunity to realize their potential. The conference was split up in two parts; education followed by public diplomacy. United Netherlands was invited, as the general goals of organization are very much in line with those of ECS, our partner organization, to offer young people opportunities and a network to realize and utilize their potential. For our representative, Alexandra Wishart, Director General of the Academy, it was a great opportunity to speak at this international Youth Conference. ‘Personally, I perceived the audience as very receptive and eager to reflect on the challenges and dilemmas that face youth in international cooperation and diplomacy. The presence of a diverse group of NGO representatives but also government officials contributed to the lively debate after the individual speakers.

Alexandra had the chance to talk to many interesting people and discuss future possibilities of cooperation between Russian-based international organizations and United Netherlands. Especially in times like these that are characterized by increasing tensions it is important not to avoid the dialogue between countries. We feel that United Netherlands contributed in a fruitful exchange and would like to continue working together with our partner the Eurasian Club System (ECS) in the upcoming years in creating educational programs and networks between our organizations and we are thankful for their hospitality and cooperation and look forward to working together in the future!
